Delta 9 partner to begin operations in Newfoundland facility

Delta 9 Cannabis Inc. has received the green light by Health Canada to begin cannabis production through its partner, Oceanic Releaf Inc., in Burin, N.L.

According to a Feb. 9 press release, Oceanic Releaf has received its cannabis cultivation license for standard cannabis and processing operations. Delta 9 owns a five per cent equity stake in Oceanic’s production facility operations and retail store. It also has a 20-year supply agreement with Oceanic and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

“We look forward to continuing work with Oceanic on expanding their cultivation and retail operations in Newfoundland,” said Delta 9 CE) John Arbuthnot. “We are very excited to be able to offer the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador the best selection of cannabis products and to work with Oceanic to create a world class production facility.”

Oceanic has a 63,000 sq. ft. production facility that will grow cannabis hydroponically in a 15,000 sq. ft. portion of the building. The company boasts state-of-the-art equipment, including climate control and grow room automation. Oceanic says it has further plans to incorporate more innovative sustainability in future phases of expansion.

Oceanic recently opened a 2,300 sq. ft. retail store in Burin Bay Arm on Dec. 15, 2020. The new store is one of the largest cannabis stores in the region, offering a unique drive-through service. It plans to open a second location in St. John’s, N.L. by the end of 2021.
